Culture / Community Engagement / Sport and physical activity
Events featuring Games-themed sports and cultural activities will take place in all 32 local authority areas this summer as part of Games for Scotland.

The Scottish Government and EventScotland launched the 2013 Games for Scotland programme at Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh.

The £379,000 investment programme will support a series of events across the country designed to engage communities throughout Scotland in the countdown to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, with the theme around "One year to go!".

The launch was attended by Shona Robison, Minister for Commonwealth Games and Sport and children from ‘Commonwealth Moves’ events taking place in East Lothian, which will receive funding from the Games for Scotland programme. This alongside 31 other local authority-run events will aim to inspire Scots across the country by encouraging and motivating them to take part in events which celebrate Scotland’s culture, heritage and role as host of the next Commonwealth Games.
