Glasgow 2014
Wealth of opportunity to see world-class live sport as Glasgow 2014 tickets go up for grabs.

A wealth of opportunities to see world-class sport in Glasgow next summer went live at 10am this morning (Monday, October 21) when the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games exclusive on-sale window opens giving sports fans who missed out on tickets in the application phase a chance to be part of the Games.

During the exclusive on sale period available tickets can be purchased on a first-come, first-served basis, with opportunities for everyone who took part in the application phase to snap up tickets. This time there is no need for buyers to apply – all available tickets can be purchased in real time. Availability varies from sport to sport, but there are opportunities to witness top sporting competition across 12 of the 17 sports including the Rugby Sevens at Ibrox, Badminton at the Emirates Arena and Weightlifting at the SECC Precinct.

Glasgow 2014 organisers also unveiled today the match schedules for the Hockey and Netball competitions, both of which will feature top- ranked teams from across the Commonwealth and where tickets remain available across a number of sessions.

At the impressive Glasgow National Hockey Centre on Glasgow Green, Scotland’s Men’s and Women’s teams get their campaigns off and running on Friday July 25 against South Africa and Malaysia respectively. There are also tickets available for the Women’s Scotland v England tie on Wednesday July 30 – a must-have ticket for any sports fan.

In netball, a limited number of tickets still remain for sessions including Scotland’s group encounters with Malawi (Tuesday July 29) and Northern Ireland (Wednesday July 30). Some tickets are also available to see matches involving highly ranked Australia, New Zealand and England.

Full details of the Hockey and Netball schedules are now available to view at http://www.glasgow2014.com/games/sports/netball and http://www.glasgow2014.com/games/sports/hockey to allow fans to plan which available sessions they want to take in.

As the on sale opens, a limited number of tickets are also available for specific sessions or price categories in Athletics, Boxing and Gymnastics (Rhythmic) and for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

The exclusive on sale period runs from today (Monday 21 October) at 10.00 until 18.00 on Saturday, 26 October, with the first two days – Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 – dedicated exclusively to those who received no tickets from their initial application.

From 10.00 on Wednesday 23 October applicants who received some of their requested tickets will also be able to purchase tickets. Then on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 October everyone who applied for tickets will have an exclusive second chance to top-up their ticket account before all remaining tickets go on general public sale.

Tickets will be available online via the Glasgow 2014 Ticketing website tickets.glasgow2014.com or via the Glasgow 2014 Ticket Hotline 0844 826 2014 (Option 1), open 24 hours a day. Calls cost 5p per minute from a BT landline. Other networks may vary. Callers from outside the UK should call +44 (0) 141 387 2014.

Glasgow 2014 is already confirmed as one of the most popular events in Scotland’s history with 17 sports on offer across 11 days of elite competition, ensuring 4500 Commonwealth athletes competing for Gold and glory in Glasgow will do so in packed stadia. The good news is there’s still a chance to be a part of it.
